Our meal planner is a handy online tool that helps you create a backpacking menu in just a few easy steps.
You will no longer need to waste time searching for backpacking recipes, compiling Excel files and counting calories. The Meal Planner will do it for you

Set the number of days for your trip. Choose the day and meal course.

Select the meal category from drop-down menu (breakfasts, dinners, gluten-free, vegan, paleo-friendly, etc)

Our meal planner is a handy online tool that helps you create a backpacking menu In just a few easy steps.
You will no longer need to waste time searching for backpacking recipes, compiling Excel files and counting calories. The Meal Planner will do it for you.
Just search the meal you like in our more than 160 recipes and 220 trail-ready food database and add it into the day of your choice. The menu planner will keep track of your daily totals for calories and weight.
We tried to simplify the interface as much as possible, making it intuitive and convenient. To add a meal to the plan, only a few clicks are required:
- Choose the day and course
- Select the collection from our drop-down menu (breakfasts, dinners, gluten-free, vegan, paleo-friendly, etc.)
- Choose the meal you like and add it to the plan. That’s it.
You can see the number of calories and total food weight by clicking “Details” in the Meal Planner toolbar (we all watch the weight we can carry, don’t we?). To learn more about how the planner works try free version
In the full version you can make a plan for unlimited number of days.
Now you can add unlimited number of meals per day
To add your own recipes or food (for example, your favorite snack), there are two options available:
- Use the “My Foods” button in the "Add Meal" window. Here you can enter the name of the food, its weight and energy value in order to correctly calculate the mean and general values in total.
- By choosing THRU-HIKER subscription, you will be able to save your own recipes in our database. After that they will appear in the recipe collections.
The number of ready meal suppliers is constantly growing. To begin with, we’ve chosen the most famous brands, or those that we’ve encountered ourselves and had the opportunity to evaluate the quality of the products. If you have a suggestion on what product/brand should be added to the collection, please contact us.
It's easy! Start to use Backpacking Meal Planner for free without any registration. You always can upgrade your subscription plan to suit your needs.
Free access allows you to create 1 plan. By choosing THRU-HIKER subscription, you will be able to create an unlimited number of plans.
The saved plans remain accessible in a member portal while your active subscription is active. You will be able to view plan, print it or do shopping.
After subscription renewal you'll get an access to all saved plans again.
You can shop for freeze-dried meals and snacks by clicking ‘Ready Meals’ button in the "Shopping List" section. You will then be directed straight to online stores where you can continue editing your shopping basket, choose the delivery option and check out.
We tried to add all the basic features to the Plan. Nevertheless, we are going to expand the functionality. If you have any ideas on what would be useful to add, please write to us.
