What is meal planner?

Our meal planner is a handy online tool that helps you create a backpacking menu In just a few easy steps.

You will no longer need to waste time searching for backpacking recipes, compiling Excel files and counting calories. The Meal Planner will do it for you.

Just search the meal you like in our more than 100 recipes and 200 trail-ready food database and add it into the day of your choice. The menu planner will keep track of your daily totals for calories and weight.

How does it work?

We tried to simplify the interface as much as possible, making it intuitive and convenient. To add a meal to the plan, only a few clicks are required:

  1. Choose the day and course
  2. Select the collection from our drop-down menu (breakfasts,   dinners, gluten-free, vegan, paleo-friendly, etc.)
  3. Choose the meal you like and add it to the plan. That’s it.

You can see the number of calories and total food weight by clicking “Summary” in the Meal Planner toolbar (we all watch the weight we can carry, don’t we?). To learn more about how the planner works try free version

For how many days can I make a menu?

In the full version you can make a plan for a trip lasting up to 10 days. If you are preparing for a longer expedition, choose the 6-month subscription and create several plans.

How many recipes/foods can I add to the plan?

For each day you can add up to 12 meals/foods, divided into 4 categories: breakfast, lunch, dinner and snack.
At first glance this may seem redundant, however, if you cook, for example, curry with chapati bread for dinner, it's already 2 dishes. Plus cocoa for lifting the mood. So, 3 meals per course is exactly what you need.

I have my own recipes. Can I add them to the plan?

To add your own recipes or food (for example, your favorite snack), there are two options available:

  1. Use the “My Foods” button in the "Add Meal" window. Here you can enter the name of the food, its weight and energy value in order to correctly calculate the mean and general values in total.
  2. Coming soon: by choosing 6-month subscription, you will be able to save your own recipes in our database. After that they will appear in the list of collections.

I do not see in the trail-ready meal catalogue my favorite brand XXX. Can you add it?

The number of ready meal suppliers is constantly growing. To begin with, we’ve chosen the most famous brands, or those that we’ve encountered ourselves and had the opportunity to evaluate the quality of the products. If you have a suggestion on what product/brand should be added to the collection, please contact us.

How do I get started?

It's easy! Sign-up and start to use Backpacking Meal Planner for free. You always can upgrade your subscription plan to suit your needs.

How many plans can I save?

Free access allows you to create and store 1 plan in the database. By choosing 6-month subscription, you will be able to create an unlimited number of plans.

Can I get access to the saved plans after subscription termination?

The saved plans remain accessible in a member portal while your active subscription is active. You will be able to view plan, print it or do shopping.
After subscription renewal you'll get an access to all saved plans again.

How can I buy foods and meals selected for my Meal Plan?

You can shop for freeze-dried meals and snacks by clicking ‘Shop Online’ button in the "Summary" section. You will then be directed straight to online stores where you can continue editing your shopping basket, choose the delivery option and check out.

Some features are lacking.

We tried to add all the basic features to the Plan. Nevertheless, we are going to expand the functionality. If you have any ideas on what would be useful to add, please write to us.
